Marielis Garcia is a Dominican American dance artist who choreographs, directs, curates, and educates. Her choreography merges structured techniques with improvisational tasks. Collaboration is central to her work, which embraces unpredictability, humor, and abstraction to remix themes of identity, belonging, and impermanence. She has performed and toured with Brian Brooks, Peter Kyle, iKapa, and Stefanie Batten Bland, among others. Marielis received her MFA in Digital and Interdisciplinary Art Practice from City College of New York. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina- Greensboro. She has received residencies from Ballet Hispanico’s Instituto Coreografico and Alvin Ailey’s New Directions Choreography Lab.
