Friction Design Websites

Carl Barenbrug is a product designer and creative director. His research and product design lab, Friction by Design, explores the role of friction in digital design. He argues that while removing unnecessary friction is often beneficial, deliberately introducing friction can create moments of awareness and encourage users to be more considered in their actions. He believes that unrelenting frictionless design optimizes for motion, not meaning, and that good design respects attention and limits.
