Brian Lau is the son of immigrants and the oldest of three boys. A Portland native, he has also lived in Seattle, Shanghai, Beijing, and Tianjin. He loves technology, stories, movies, creating, learning, and traveling. He studied International Studies and later earned an MBA. His professional experience includes roles in data analysis, finance, software development, and supporting seniors and small businesses. In 2023-2024, he spent a year in China, studying Chinese and working in marketing and IT. He has written a book, '1 Year in China,' documenting his experiences and observations from that time.
