Tom Hughes is a theatre director currently working as Associate Director on the Olivier Award-winning production of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. He grew up in Folkestone, Kent, and completed a PhD in Film Studies from the University of Warwick. Before focusing on theatre, he toured with punk rock bands and worked on the stand-up comedy circuit. He began theatremaking in 2010 and won Best Director at the 2017 Offie Awards for his production of 'punkplay'. He is also working towards writing and directing for film & TV, with his pilot script, 'All Yesterday’s Parties', reaching the top 12% of the BBC Writersroom Open Call. He lives in North London with his family.
