Eddie Shorer is a retired middle-school teacher from Los Angeles. He holds a BA in Japanese and English Intercultural Studies and an MA in Popular Culture Studies. He lived in Japan, teaching English and making tofu. Back in L.A., he owned a bohemian Internet coffeehouse and now drives old Saabs. A 23-year veteran of slot car racing, he presented papers on the topic at Popular Culture Association National Conferences between 2007 and 2021. He is the author of "Slot Car Racing in Popular Culture."
