Techtonic with Mark Hurst on WFMU
// TECHTONIC.FMMark Hurst is the host of Techtonic, a weekly radio show on WFMU exploring how technology is affecting everyone. He interviews authors and journalists about the effects of surveillance capitalism, screen addiction, and tech utopianism. The show spotlights the risks to democracy, society, and the environment due to the actions of giant corporations and tech platforms. A longtime tech veteran, Hurst began Techtonic in 2017 after becoming disillusioned with the tech industry. He has spent his career writing, speaking, and advising teams about how to create technology that serves people better. He started the Creative Good newsletter in 1998. Previously, Hurst ran the Gel conference series. He has written two books: Bit Literacy and Customers Included. Hurst has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from MIT. He lives in Manhattan.
