Nathan Barry is a CS graduate student at UT Austin interested in systems and machine learning. He enjoys working on hard problems with great people and occasionally writes about things that interest him. Nathan is currently finishing his Master’s of Science in CS at UT Austin (Aug 2024 - Present). He will be a Graduate Researcher at UT Austin starting in August 2025, working on diffusion language models and previously distributed low-communication training. Previously, he worked at Apple as a Machine Learning Intern (May 2025 - Aug 2025) and as an Undergraduate Researcher at UT Austin (Feb 2024 - Sep 2024). He also worked at multiple startups as a Software Engineer (Nov 2021 - Jan 2025). Nathan finished his Bachelor’s of Science in CS and Math at UT Austin (Aug 2021 - May 2025).

Justin Cartwright is a Software Systems Engineer with a background in automotive powertrains, IoT, smart buildings, and functional safety. He currently lives in Chicago, IL and works as a Software Engineer at Fennec Engineering. When he is not in front of his keyboard, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, exploring new places, and getting a good run in. His wife and her family are from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Priyavrat Misra is a Software Engineer and Computer Science Graduate. He is also an Open Source Advocate and Cycling Enthusiast. He has a passion for the submerged 90% of the iceberg and loves writing clean, efficient code in Vim. He enjoys geeking out over system internals, whether it’s operating, database, or distributed systems. He documents his findings in his blog. He pedals to work and wears a shiny orange helmet.

Nick Long is a systems architect, management consultant, yoga teacher, risk manager, trader and online educator. He designs systems and builds his projects from the ground up. He programs computers and has done so since the early 1980s. He previously worked in management consultancy, including designing trading systems at the London Stock Exchange, and managed risk at Morgan Stanley, where he was promoted to Executive Director. He practiced yoga and taught Iyengar Yoga until 2019. He was a partner in a software company and loves learning. He believes happiness requires health of body, a clear and peaceful mind, and a safe financial foundation.

Jyn is a software engineer who enjoys building things with code. She is passionate about learning new technologies and using them to solve problems. She is currently working as a Software Engineer at Cloudflare. Previously, she was a Software Engineering Intern at Facebook. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering.

Marc Bowes is a software engineer at AWS. He builds secure, reliable systems and enjoys connecting with customers and answering their questions. He currently works on Amazon Aurora DSQL, a serverless distributed SQL database. Previously, he worked for Amazon EC2, managing a large MySQL installation. His work focuses on the performance and availability of databases and how they impact customers. He has written articles about DSQL engineering and design choices.
