Pera Barrett is a multifaceted individual: a dad, the founder of Shoebox Christmas Aotearoa, an author, a musician, and a doer. He is of Ngāti Raukawa Ki Te Tonga, Te Ātiawa Ki Whakarongotai, and Ngāti Toa Rangatira descent. He also founded Koha Tree and is building Kaha Create. Pera hosts the Paperback Guerrillas podcast and delivers Te Tiriti and Equity training. He works for Te Wānanga o Raukawa, developing pathways for Māori in tech, and dedicates time to voluntary kaupapa. A carver of bone and stone, Pera has a background in leadership and digital product owner roles. He is a member of the New Zealander of The Year alumni and a Hapori Matihiko Māori Tech award winner. He is also a director of Kapiti Island Nature Tours and Kapiti Island Honey. He writes stories and studies whakairo (carving) at Te Wānanga o Raukawa.
