Jay Gowdy is a software architect and technologist with 33 years of coding experience, including 25 years professionally. He has experience in C, C++, x86/x64 assembly, Rust, Go, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Ruby, and Python. He built FreedomVoice, a VoIP telecom carrier, for over 15 years. Jay proposed the idea for port knocking at DefCon 9 and led a winning team at DefCon 10 CTF. He also proposed the idea for Shadow Stacks in 2013. He has contributed patches or code to open source projects like Asterisk and MySQL.
