Eli Tyre is focused on reducing existential risk from Superintelligence, starting in 2015. Eli aims to improve the chances that human civilization survives this century. Eli is the Strategy Director at Palisade Research, focused on briefing policymakers and the public about the intelligence explosion and AI loss of control risks. Eli also works part time for the Survival and Flourishing Fund, coordinating x-risk focused grant rounds. Eli writes on a personal blog, Musings and Rough Drafts, and also posts on Less Wrong. Seth Herd works on AI safety, applying his background in computational cognitive neuroscience. He studied cognitive psychology and neuroscience at CU Boulder from 1999-2006, and was a researcher there until 2014. He then became CEO of eCortex, Inc, a neuroscience research company. Seth used neural network models to theorize about how the brain works as an information-processing system, studying skill and knowledge learning, episodic memory, vision, and working memory for executive function. In 2022, he transitioned to working on AI alignment and is now a research fellow at the Astera Institute. His work focuses on aligning general intelligence so that it acts in accordance with human desires, even when acting independently and with superior intelligence.

Nelson Elhage is an engineer and researcher currently working at Anthropic on their pretraining team, and previously on reverse-engineering large language models. Before Anthropic, Nelson worked at Stripe, where he was a founding member of the Sorbet project, and at Ksplice (and later Oracle) working on the Ksplice technology. He created livegrep.com, a site for realtime regex searching of the Linux kernel. Nelson has written for his personal blog, a newsletter, and two Tumblr blogs chronicling debugging stories and unintended quadratic complexity in code. He has contributed code to Sorbet, Llama, Taktician, crossme.app, and reptyr. He has also done security work for open-source projects like the Linux kernel and KVM, and presented at Black Hat USA 2011 on KVM security.

Dan is a programmer from the UK. He holds a 1:1 MEng (Acc) Hons in Computer Science and is currently pursuing a PhD in "Information Driven Exploration For Multi-Agent UAVs." He is currently based in Essex, UK and Christchurch, New Zealand. Dan is the creator of Coffee Space, a website dedicated to collecting ideas and thoughts. Andy Jones is an engineer-researcher at Anthropic. He has worked on various projects as demand dictates, including building early RL infrastructure, sandboxing infrastructure, leading the multimodal effort, and working on big-model training. He is also a writer, with articles on topics such as AI progress, debugging reinforcement learning systems, and AI safety. He has also worked on several projects including megastep, pybbfmm, fayin, coolgpus, kvbtests, modulepickle, zonotable, tablatex, nosearch, noterminal, and stripcommon.

Oritsemughone Ogbemi is a writer-artist living and working in Lagos, Nigeria. She designs and edits the print literary magazine Mamasima and makes websites. Her writing has been featured in Wreath, Tragickal, Annual Report, and miniskirt. Right now, she is composing a collection of short stories.

Steve Byrnes is a Boston-area physicist working on Artificial General Intelligence safety research, also known as AI Alignment. His work involves thinking about neuroscience and algorithms. He is currently working at Astera. From 2015 to 2021, he worked as a professional physicist at Draper, a nonprofit R&D laboratory in the Boston area, where he worked on algorithms, system design, simulations, and trade studies across many domains. From 2012 to 2015, he was a physics postdoc in Federico Capasso’s applied physics laboratory at Harvard University, doing theoretical and experimental research in thermodynamics and optics. He earned a Physics PhD at the University of California, Berkeley from 2007 to 2012. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University in 2007 with a B.A. in Physics and Math. He was a winner of both the USA Math Olympiad and the USA Physics Olympiad, and he won first place nationally in the Siemens Westinghouse Competition with a math project.
