Nelson Elhage is an engineer and researcher currently working at Anthropic on their pretraining team, and previously on reverse-engineering large language models. Before Anthropic, Nelson worked at Stripe, where he was a founding member of the Sorbet project, and at Ksplice (and later Oracle) working on the Ksplice technology. He created livegrep.com, a site for realtime regex searching of the Linux kernel. Nelson has written for his personal blog, a newsletter, and two Tumblr blogs chronicling debugging stories and unintended quadratic complexity in code. He has contributed code to Sorbet, Llama, Taktician, crossme.app, and reptyr. He has also done security work for open-source projects like the Linux kernel and KVM, and presented at Black Hat USA 2011 on KVM security.

This person built the website krowemoh.com using pick basic. They built out the server, the markdown renderer, and their own templating language. They made a promise to run the site with BASIC for ten years, starting in 2023. They originally thought this would be an easy promise but it is proving to be difficult. They are considering porting their blog to another framework as a valuable learning exercise.
