David R Munson is a Japan-based photographer originally from Lubbock, Texas. He has been driven by curiosity since picking up a camera in 1996. His work reflects decades of using photography as a vehicle through life, guided by the philosophy that everything is interesting if given an honest chance. David's work explores themes of liminality and interstitiality in the built environment, focusing on the subtle, mundane, hidden, and forgotten. Influenced by DADAist poetry, entomology, architecture, and Taoist philosophy, he strives for new understandings through diligent practice. He largely eschews color in favor of monochrome and works with both digital and photochemical methods. David attended Ohio University’s School of Visual Communications, studying commercial photography with a minor in art history.
